Assigning and Managing Risk Owners

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 342 views

Assigning and managing risk owners is an essential part of risk management. Without a defined individual responsible for managing that risk, mitigation is not possible. “Risk Owners” are pivotal figures assigned to navigate potential threats. These individuals take ownership of specific risks, ensuring accountability and proactive management. By aligning responsibilities with risks, organizations enhance responsiveness and foster a culture of vigilance, strengthening their overall risk mitigation strategies.

With your TrustRegister, you can assign an owner from your current team, invite a new owner or assign yourself as the owner of the risk.

Assigning risk owners

  1. Click on the profile icon in the top right corner of the risk details page.
  2. There are three possibilities you can assign owner to the risk,
    1. If you want to assign an owner from your existing team, select “Assign from current team”.
    2. If you want to assign an owner outside your team, you can invite a new owner by clicking “Invite New Owner”.

You can also assign ownership to yourself by clicking on the “Assign to Yourself” button.
The following screenshot shows how to assign ownership of the risk.

Note: Once you invite an owner, an email invite is sent to the person, along with a risk assignment notification.

If you don’t want to invite new owners to manage their own risks, you can always use your own email address. This way, all notifications and alerts for the risk will be sent to you rather than the listed risk owner.
